Intention letter for the competition " young ambassadors of sciences in South Korea, 2006"

Brest, June the 13th 2006

We are twelve pupils from the class of Second of the Lycée Ste Anne in Brest to have chosen to take part in the physics -sciences competition organized in partnership with the French Embassy in Korea. Each pupil's motivations, which can be different, (it includes the discovery of a culture, the interest for sciences, and a detailed practice of the English language) reach the same aim : to achieve an attracting Internet site which deals with a scientific subject where South Korea has been excellent these last ten years.

So, we have decided to work on nanotechnologies. This recent science has known a spectacular rise at the beginning of this century. Very promising, nanotechnologies embody the future of sciences, applied to a lot of fields. Our choice has been motivated, among other things, by the fact that Korea is actually on the fourth world rank as far as nanotechnologies.

Our work does not pretend to deal with the subject in its most technical aspects. However, it attempts to offer a large vision of the nanotechnologies, focusing in nanotubes and its main applications.

In the view-point of making the link between the chosen subject and its outlets in Korea, we have attempted to establish contacts with Korean partners. Some of this attempts have permitted to collect precious information.

Hoping to live up to the expectations of the competition, we pry you to agree, yours faithfully.

The entrants to the competition.

Work Method

It's with pleasure and with an important motivation we have created this website about the nanotechnologies.

At midday at school, helped by a teacher: Mrs Kerboul, and after school at few students' houses, we used to meet, bringing with us new knowledges about the topic thanks to the many researches in the library of our school and on internet. By little groups, created according to the desires of everyone, we worked on different topics about the nanotechnology.

The establishment of contacts with Korean partners have also permitted to collect precious informations. So, in a complicity which has become more and more important ( we didn't know each other before the start of the project ) and with an important enthusiasm, we have realised this website hoping to live up to the expectations of the competition.
